The Faculty of Agri-sciences is offered at Kaning’ina Campus. The Faculty aims at equipment students with analytical and practical skills in socio economic issues, including development, economic management, human rights, gender issues, business entrepreneurship, politics, democracy and governance with a view to make a significant contribution in dealing with the numerous soci economic challenges facing the country.

Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship

The objectives of this Programme are to:

  • To produce graduates who after acquiring knowledge and skills in agribusiness and entrepreneurship will be motivated to start their own business ventures along various potential agricultural value chains.
  • To produce graduates who will be able to apply knowledge of agribusiness and entrepreneurship in running their agricultural enterprises.
  • To produce principled business innovators who will provide entrepreneurial advisories service to Micro Small Medium Enterprisers to start their own business ventures along potential agricultural value chains.
  • To nurture graduates and business community with the spirit of creating jobs along the potential agricultural value chains in Malawi.
  • To produce researchers who will be exploring continuously other new opportunities and problems in agricultural marketing and entrepreneurship.

 

Bachelor of Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Agriculture

The objectives of this Programme are to:

  • Apply knowledge and skills from different disciplines to agricultural and management practices.
  • Provide sound leadership with interdisciplinary scientific, management and policy skills to deal with today’s agricultural problems.
  • Carry out research and outreach activities to provide solutions to complex agricultural problems.
  • Develop programmes for sustainable agricultural practices at different levels of society in relation to policy documents like National Agriculture Policy, National Agriculture Investment Programs and Sustainable Development Goals

Bachelor of Bachelor of Science in Rural and Agrarian Development

The objectives of this Programme are to:

  • Produce graduates who are fully equipped with knowledge and skills in agricultural and rural transformation.
  • Promote research and outreach activities in Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Produce extension workers who are endowed with the knowledge of agricultural transformation, extension and rural development models.
  • Produce rural development experts who are capable of identifying opportunities, problems and providing practical solutions to development problems in rural areas.
  • Understand rural development in context of rural sociology, agricultural transformation, rural development projects, and policies.

Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship Entry Requirements

Generic

Applicants must be in possession of the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent with six (6) credit passes, including English, Biology, Physical Science and Mathematics.

Mature entry

MSCE plus a certificate or diploma in Agriculture related field or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

 

Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Agriculture Entry Requirements

Applicants must be in possession of the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent with six (6) credit passes including English, Biology, Physical Science and Mathematics.

Or

MSCE plus a certificate or diploma in Agriculture related field or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Bachelor of Science in Rural and Agrarian Development Entry Requirements

Generic

Applicants must be in possession of the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent with six (6) credit passes including English, Biology, Physical Science and Mathematics.
