  • Paramedics and those with Certificate in Clinical Medicine, Diploma in Biomedical Sciences and Nursing and Midwifery Technician Diploma from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 2nd year. Transcript will be required.

Faculty of Theology

  1. Master of Arts in Theology and Religious Studies

 Description of the Programme

The primary aim of the Master of Theology and Religious Studies course is to provide continuing academic education at postgraduate level with particular focus on the development of competence in research skills. The course is designed to provide graduates with recognized qualifications to enable them to teach theology and religious studies at secondary and higher educational levels, and serve in various capacities in church, government and non-governmental organizations. They also would have the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue further study and research at the doctoral level.

  1. Master of Arts in Theology and Gender Studies

 Description of the Programme

The Master of Theology and Gender degree focuses on deepening knowledge and skills in theology and gender. It aims to foster students’ understanding of the core theological areas whilst showing how these can shape a coherent Christian approach to issues concerning gender justice and equity in Malawi and beyond.

  1. Master of Arts in Theology and Development Studies

 Description of the Programme

This programme recognizes the growing necessity of integrating approaches to development, which in Sub-Saharan Africa have often involved the Church, with theological understanding. In so doing, it seeks to deepen students’ understanding of the core theological areas whilst also showing how these can shape a coherent Christian approach to development in Malawi. The programme will take an in-depth look at the core areas within the disciplines of theology and development studies as well as exposing students to the ways in which they can be integrated.

Requirements for the programmes for Masters:

  1. Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, or Education (Humanities), or Social and Development Studies with credit or equivalent fields from an accredited institution.
  2. The programmes will be offered through both taught Coursework and Research or by Research only.
  3. Masters by Coursework and Research will be done in two years, with one year dedicated to coursework on the campus, while the second year to research.
  4. Masters by Research will be completed in three years, through extensive research work and writing of modules
  1. KANING’INA CAMPUS

1. Master of Science in Global Sanitation

 Description of the Programme

The programme aims at educating talented and ambitious young and mid-career professionals working at sewerage companies, municipal assemblies, government ministries, private sectors, NGOs and consulting companies to deal with rural, urban and peri-urban sanitation, sanitation for vulnerable populations. They will become sanitation experts capable to plan, design and implement sanitation programmes and projects in Malawi and worldwide.

This programme has a one year taught course work on a modular-basis. The delivery of modules will be on a block release of specified duration spread throughout the first year. The second year will be for students to do own research that will lead to an examinable thesis.

 Location: Kaning’ina Campus, in the City of Mzuzu at about 0.5 km from the Mzuzu to Nkhata-Bay road at Mtwaro Flats.

Requirements: 

  1. Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Food Security and Nutrition, Environmental Management, Education Sciences, Community Development and other health related fields from an accredited institution.

3. FEES STRUCTURE PER SEMESTER:

  1. For the bachelor’s degrees: Local students (residential) – MK585, 000

Local students (non-residential) – MK505, 000

International students (residential) – US$1, 135, 00

    International Students (non-residential) – US$695

  1. For University Certificate in Education –  MK300, 000
  1. Weekend and Evening classes – MK450, 000. Weekend and Evening programmes are non-residential.
  1. National Postgraduate students shall pay MK1, 500,000 per year by coursework, and MK1, 300,000 by research (Theology only). SADC students shall pay $2,400 and International students will pay $2,600 by Course work and US$2,500 by research.

 Note:

  1. Students shall be expected to pay directly to outsourced service providers for their food. The collection and determination of catering fees is solely in the hands of the outsourced service providers.
  2. The University does not use an agent in recruitment of students and payment of fees (i.e. does not use Airtel Money, Mpamba, Mukuru and Hello Paisa).
  3. Students for Public Health should have a registration fee of MK10, 000 for the Medical Council of Malawi paid once in the First Semester in Year 1 for the entire academic cycle.
  4. The semester commences on 21st March, 2022.
  5. Admitted candidates shall be required to respect and abide by the Christian values as practiced by the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia.
  6. Applicants should pay a non-refundable application fee of MK10,000 for undergraduates programmes and MK15,000 for postgraduate programmes to the bank account below:

METHOD OF PAYMENT OF FEES PER SEMESTER

  1. All applicants should provide proof of capability to pay the required fees.
  2. Upon admission into the programmes, students should pay half of the required fees per semester in order to be registered. The fees balance should be paid in at least two instalments.
  3. Students are required to deposit fees to the bank and produce the deposit slip during registration.
  4. The University follows a policy of “No Fees, No admission”.
  5. The Council of the UNILIA reserves the right to amend all fees during the course of the academic year.
