University of Livingstonia (UNILIA) was established in 2003 and is guided by Christian values under the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Synod of Livingstonia. The University offers various programmes fully registered and accredited by the National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) in order to educate and inspire learners who shall transform society, through excellence in teaching, research, consultancy, and learning environment to the glory of God.

The University of Livinsgtonia invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to enroll into its programmes which will commence in January 2020 as listed below;

·   Holders of Diploma in Education (Humanities) from a recognised institution will be enrolled in 3rd year.

·    Holders of Diploma in Education (Sciences) from a recognised institution with a major in Mathematics may be enrolled in 2nd year subject to evaluation of the transcript.

4. University Certificate of Education (UCE) ·      Minimum of a non-educational  Diploma or Degree from a recognised institution and are currently teaching at least in secondary schools or are interested in joining teaching. 2 years

5. Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management

·  Full MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English, Physical Science, Biology and Mathematics.

·   Holders of Diploma in Environmental Studies  from a recognised institution may be enrolled in 2nd year or 3rd year, subject to evaluation of the academic transcript.

·   Holders of certificates in relevant fields will be enrolled in 1st year.

6. Bachelor of Science in

Public Health

·   Full MSCE or its equivalent with six (6) credits, including English, Physical Science, Biology and Mathematics.

·   Holders of Diploma in Clinical Medicine, Public or Environmental Health obtained from recognised institutions and State Registered Nurses may be enrolled in 3rd year.

·   Paramedics and those with Certificate in Clinical Medicine including Diploma in Biomedical Sciences and Nursing and Midwifery Technician Diploma from a recognised  CHAM or Government Nursing Colleges may be enrolled in 2nd year.

·  Holders of Diploma in Food Security and Nutrition related courses from a recognised institution  may be enrolled either in 2nd year or 3rd year, subject to evaluation of the academic transcript.

·  Those with certificates in related courses will be enrolled in first year.

9. Bachelor of Social Science in Human Rights ·   Applicants should have a full M.S.C.E or its equivalent with six credits (6) including English and Mathematics.

This has the following tracks to choose from: Biblical Studies, Church History, Religious Studies and Systematic Theology 3 years
18.  Master of Arts in Theology and Gender Studies ·            Applicants should have a Bachelor of Theology or a related Bachelors or higher degree from an accredited institution 3 years
19. Master of Arts in Theology and Development Studies ·            Applicants should have a Bachelor of Theology or a related Bachelors or Postgraduate Diploma in Theology or its equivalent higher degree from an accredited institution 3  years
Non-theological applicants with Bachelor of Education, with Theology and Religious Studies (TRS) as major, will be required to take specific courses in order to attain admission to these programmes, as directed
Research programme is one in which more than two-thirds of the requirements are assessed based on research related performance.  Masters by Research will be completed in three years, through extensive research work, writing of modules and a dissertation.

One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Kwacha only (K150,000) per Semester
Students will be responsible for their accommodation and meals.
 
UNIVERSITY CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION
Three Hundred Thousand kwacha only (MK300,000) per semester
Students will be responsible for their meals and accommodation is on a fee
 
Prescribed Fees  for Masters by Research only MK 200,000 per semester for Malawian

MK 300,000 per semester for foreign students

 

All applicants will be required to provide proof of previous education. Copies of notication of results, transcripts and diplomas or certificates (for upgrading) in the application where necessary and deposit slip for the application fee

Note:

  • The collection and determination of catering fees is solely in the hands of service providers. Students will be expected to pay directly to service providers for their food. Details of payments will be provided in the offer letter.
  • Details of fees payment will be communicated in admission letters.
  • Completed application forms should be returned with a non-refundable application fee of MK10, 000 (undergraduate programmes) and MK 15,000 (Postgraduate Programmes) for Malawian applicants and US$50 for international applicants to the banck account below;

  1. METHOD OF PAYMENT OF FEES PER SEMESTER
  • Students should pay half of the required fees per semester in order to be registered. The fees balance should be paid in at least two instalments before commencing date of examinations.
  • Students are required to deposit fees to the bank and produce the deposit slip during registration. The University does not use an agent in recruitment of its students and payment of fees.
  • The University uses the Policy of “No fees, No attendance in class and No access to services”.
  • All applicants should provide proof of capability to pay the required fees.
  • The Council of the University of Livingstonia reserves the right to amend all fees during the course of the academic year.

  • Application forms (2019 -2020) can be obtained from our website:  unilia.ac.mw  or the University Registrar’s Office in Mzuzu, Laws Campus at Livingstonia, Ekwendeni Campus, Emmanuel Teacher’s College and CCAP Livingstonia Synod church (Area 47) in Lilongwe, Zomba Theological College in Zomba.
